The Teachers

The team of teachers, all of whom are former students, work in a collegial way as Jacques Lecoq wished. They divide their schedule between the classes they give in the school and their commitment to the theatre world, as an actor, director or playwright. This enables them to stay in touch with contemporary theatre and nourish their teaching ideas and share them with the students.

Jason Turner teaches movement analysis and improvisation the first year, and movement and theatrical territories in the second year at Jacques Lecoq’s school in Paris.

After a degree in literature in England (U.E.A.) he studied at Ecole Jacques Lecoq (1991-1993) with Jacques Lecoq, Dorly Lamar, Alan Mollot, Sandra Mladonovitch, Christophe Marchand and Norman Taylor. Since, he has worked as an actor or director with various companies in Europe. Hoipolloi Theatre in England, Be Negre in Spain, In Transit in Switzerland and La Minuterie and Plateforme Theatre in France. For the last 10 years he has focused progressively on teaching. At Théâtre Romain Rolland, under Alan Mollot’s auspices, he led workshops in schools and colleges, and started adult’s workshops introducing Lecoq’s approach to theatre. After being invited in 2003 to follow the teacher’s training course at Lecoq’s school he was asked to join the team of teachers. He regularly leads workshops for theatre companies and theatre schools, and has taught classes and workshops at, amongst others, l’Ecole Nationale des Arts du Cirque, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow, PAM Theatre in Korea and Seattle University, USA. He recently founded M.A.T. to develop research, pedagogy and performance.
